I spent the afternoon on Michigan State University’s campus photographing Claire and Robert for their engagement session.  What fun couple!  They had wanted to incorporate their cars into their engagement session and I was really looking forward to the challenge.  We walked around Michigan State University’s campus on a busy and warm spring day.  It was just before college graduation so campus was filled with grads also wanting pictures at these iconic locations around campus.  A little of line standing gave me the chance to talk with Claire and Robert more about their upcoming special day in November 2016.  I had a blast laughing with these two and you can tell from their session how much fun they have with each other.  Here are my favorites from their session:

Robert Described By Claire:  Robert is the kind of person you want on your team. He is extremely understanding about my lupus, and I know he would do anything for me. He loves working on cars and watching Law and Order. He is my scruffy looking nerf herder with a secret soft side.

How They Met:  Short story: we met at Rick’s over tequila shots. Longer story: Claire went out to Rick’s with her friend Christina after work. Christina was also friends with Robert, and convinced him to come meet up with them that night. After barely talking to Claire, Robert decided he “wanted the tall one” and asked Christina to give Claire his number, which she did. He proceeded to ask her out to dinner at No Thai.

How He Asked:  For our 3 year anniversary trip, we went to Ithaca, NY. Claire had a feeling that during the trip Robert was going to propose. One of the days we were there, we went on a walk up this gorge with all these beautiful waterfalls. At one point during the walk, Robert asked Claire to stop and put his hand in his pocket… to pull out his phone to take a picture. After the walk, he asked her to dress up nice for a romantic dinner, complete with dessert, and he still didn’t propose. After dinner we walked out to the end of a dock on Cayuga Lake, and you guessed it, still didn’t propose. On the way back to the car, we passed a spot along the path where there were dedication bricks. Robert then pointed out a specific brick, on which he had engraved “Will you marry me?” and then he presented Claire with her grandmother’s ring.
