Kaylee + Jake | Michigan State University Engagement Photography

Kaylee and I go several years back through coaching cheerleading.  I’ve cherished the relationship that I have developed with her.  What started as a mentor for coaching with a motherly touch turned into a blossomed, great friendship.  I want nothing more than to see her happy so when I got the call that she had met someone special, I was ecstatic for her.  Fast forward to today and I got to finally meet her someone special.  Jake is a sweetheart and it is apparent that is love and admiration for Kaylee is strong.  We met in the morning hours on Michigan State University’s campus.  It was a beautiful morning with the sun coming through just right on the dewy grass.  I loved how these images captured the light and their love.

How They Met (Described by Kaylee):  We were introduced through one of my college cheerleaders.

How He Asked:  The day Jake bought my ring is the day he proposed – on a random Tuesday as I would like to say. Little did he realize at the time, it was exactly 2 months from the day we started dating. That day, he left work and was supposed to be going to the UPS store, instead he went to get my ring, which I was unaware of. This led to a little tif between us that my mom tried desperately on the phone to get me to get over (She knew what was going on!) When he got home, I was upset, but he worked like crazy to get me to calm down. Finally, after a little (to long) while, I calmed down and he asked me to put on this specific outfit (jeans, cowgirl boots) and to fix my hair. So I reluctantly obeyed! He then drove us to the park in our town (Plymouth, IN) (Centennial Park) as the sun was setting. We get out of the jeep and opens my door to walk me to the “magical spot” all the while, I am complaining about why we can’t walk on the sidewalk instead of the grass! (Anyone who knows me, knows I am very practical in these situation) While he is doing is best to ignore me, he finally stops in the middle of this open area at the park where the sun was setting pink (my favorite color) and gets down on one knee and of course I said yes. It was a very intimate occasion with no one else around and quite a funny lead up story that perfectly describes our day to day life!
