Meghan and Mason were the absolute cutest at their engagement session at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge.  It is so apparent how much love there is in their relationship.  They both just glow with smiles when they are around each other.  Hanging out with them was like hanging out with two old friends and I loved the time I got to spend with them during their session.  I can’t wait for their beautiful wedding!  Congratulations you guys!

She is outgoing and isn’t afraid let you know what is on her mind. She is beautiful everyday rain or shine even when she doesn’t think so, her smile is contagious. She is determined and works hard for what she wants. To her there’s no better way to spend a weekend then with her dog and myself. She is my world and soon to be my wife. 

MASON | Hometown: Plainwell, MI • Fave Food:  Pizza • Described by Meghan:  Mason is first and foremost the most caring guy I have ever met (aside from my daddy), he actually resembles my father in many ways. He has a huge heart for me, our dog, and our families. He is a hard worker who puts forth his best in everything he does. He is extremely to easy to get along with, has the best laugh, and wonderful personality. He loves the outdoors. He is beyond handsome and everything I’ve ever wanted and more.

How They Met:  We were up at Silver Lake on vacation. I was with my best friends and their family, who went up to Silver Lake with a group of families, Mason and his family were part of that group. We had previous encounters on vacations in the past but we were both younger and not really looking. After the first day I went up to my best friend and asked him if Mason was single and he said ‘yeah, maybe you should talk to him.’ I asked Mason’s aunt to take me on a buggy ride and she said ‘Mas take Megh on a ride in my buggy.’ He took me to the top of ‘test hill’ and we talked for quite some time and that’s where it all started.

How He Asked:  We were supposed to go to Silver Lake over the 4th of July but we decided to not to go because it would be too busy and we wanted to enjoy our trip, so we ended up going up Friday, July 17th, 2015 after we both worked a half day. We got home, loaded up the buggy, the dog, and our stuff and headed that way. We got to his parents camper and he was rushing around because he was ‘excited to finally bring the buggy out.’ so we quick did the things we needed to do in preparation to head out to the dunes. Little did I know, he was rushing because my parents were there and he didn’t want me to see them. We headed out to the dunes, drove around and went to sit on ‘test hill’ to watch people and to talk. Sunset came around and he had been talking with another couple and secretly handed his phone to them to video his proposal. He then got down on one knee and before he could say anything I said “you little shit head’ and he continued to say “Meghan Lynn Alkema, will you marry me?” Of course I said YES! As all the people around us started clapping and cheering. We got back to the campground I realized my parents were there waiting with his parents, which made it that much more special. 🙂
